How I manifested 20K (and so much pleasure!) in three weeks in a foreign country for a job I never did before ;)

I call it magic, that’s how, and yes, you have it too.

This was back in 2018, I had an exhibition up at a beautiful gallery and got an email from a Chinese young man that saw my work and was inspired by it tremendously. He asked if we could meet and said he had an offer, an idea, wanting to connect me to a lifestyle company in Beijing so they can sell me works to their exclusive audience. 

We met at a beautiful women’s club I was a member of, I loved his idea, and even though it was the first time I saw him or even considered doing anything with China the country, I decided at that moment that I must go there and meet with these people if I was to do business with them. 

From the moment I decided I wanted to go to China, and had my energy directed there, crazy synchronicities started happening. I was introduced to the head of the consulate in Beijing, he introduced me to his friend who I was an art dealer and working for the Australian embassy in Beijing, I was gifted the ticket to fly to China etc. etc. 

Let me tell you, I had NO IDEA what I was doing. All I knew was I wanted to go there and spread my light and creativity and get paid. I produced a special edition of 30 miniature pieces of my artwork in a gorgeous production, numbered and signed. 

I started contacting anyone I could find that was living in Beijing and had something to do with the art & business worlds. I discovered china has its own version of what’s up app called Wechat, downloaded that, and started making appointments with my new contacts for the visit. In the two weeks that led to the trip, I had made SO MANY new contacts - it was unbelievable!

One of the events that were organized for me by my new friend was to give a lecture at Ogilvy & Mather Beijing, a huge global advertising company. I also had meetings that were organized for me by the consulate with PR company heads, curators, hotel managers, and gallery owners. 

Before I left to China, I decided I wanted to receive $20K on this trip and had made the intention in my imagination/energy body, this took a few seconds. I remember standing in my living room and just asking for this in my mind’s eye and seeing it flow to me and feeling expansion and gratitude. 

Then I just forgot about it completely and surrendered to whatever came. Went with the flow of all the contacts and appointments I made and the special edition gifts which I later gave to the people I met with, with a little note written on the back. 

So one day after a long meeting with a super cool curator I found myself giving a lecture to a room full of Ogvily & Mather employees, showing my work and talking hyper creativity, fashion and self-portraits, my jam. 

At the end of the lecture, a few of them came over wanting to ask questions and get my contact info. A young woman approached me and disclosed that she has a big flower company in Shanghai and she would like me to do the photography for them. 

I said great (I LOVE flowers) and we scheduled to meet the next day. She then picked me up in her white jaguar and took me on the most fun and exciting tour of her favorite parts of the city! 

It felt like flying… after visiting a few gorgeous landmarks, shopping, and taking a carriage around a gorgeous frozen lake we landed in a traditional Chinese tea house, which was so authentic and beautiful I didn’t know where to look first.   

I had to leave soon because I had more meetings (I actually had to tell people I wanted to meet I didn’t have time for a drink at some point), then she casually mentioned she was opening up a tea house in NYC (which I had lived in for a decade) and needs someone to do all the branding for the place. 

I was like YES I’ll do it. 

Have I done it before? NO. 

Did I know I could do a great job managing the process and getting her awesome results? Yes! 

We met again, this time in my hotel, after we parted ways she texted me that she knows it’s not a lot for someone like me but she does have a budget of $20K, if that could work for the project. It was perfect for me as it is exactly what I asked for from the universe. 

And this is how I manifested 20K (and so much fun & adventure!) in a foreign country. I ended up going twice more to China that year, and had many many MANY more really phenomenal adventures and friendships created, but that is for another story.

It sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? 

The truth is, I never felt like I made ANY EFFORT at all, I was so freaking excited about being there and shining my light! meeting people, learning so much, and jumping on opportunities that felt aligned. I just had the time of my life. I didn’t have to think, I didn’t have to do anything that didn’t feel good in the moment, and I was open and ready to RECEIVE abundance. 

If you’ll notice, all of these qualities (enjoying, flowing, experiencing, receiving, creating) they are the qualities of the FEMININE. This is how the feminine magnetizes abundance to her, just by being herself. 

This is what happens when you are aligned with your desire and are on the right path, you attract abundance, you start getting supported by the universe and it becomes easily and effortlessly, then synchronicities become the new normal. 

I have this analogy, that we are artworks in our own right when we allow the divine to go through us in this way, through pleasure. So in this case, I was just being the artwork that I am. If you don’t experience this type of flow a lot, you can learn to return to being the artwork that you are. I find that there is some healing that needs to be done in order to get there and maintain that as the new normal.
